Polo has been played for more than 80 years at the historic Oak Brook Polo Grounds, and everyone is invited to come out and watch the exciting "game of kings!"
Since its inception in 1922, during the "golden age" of polo, world-class teams have come every summer to play on the immaculately groomed fields of the Oak Brook Polo Grounds. Founded by Paul Butler, patriarch of the village of Oak Brook, the original Oak Brook Polo Club became the largest polo facility in the country by 1953.
"Sunday Polo at Oak Brook" is now hosted by the Oak Brook Sports Core, with matches are played at 1 and 3 p.m. every Sunday from early July through mid-September.
We host several United States Polo Association-sponsored tournaments, including some national tournaments. Players come from the entire Chicagoland area, as well as across the country. Professional Players that play here come from Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Chile, Brazil and other polo-playing countries, as well as America.
The U.S. Open (Polo), the premier
polo tournament in the country, was played at Oak Brook for
25 years, from 1954 to 1978, the longest it was ever played
in one location. Oak Brook is considered to be one of the
top summer polo clubs in America, and is well-known
throughout the world.
In addition to the polo
matches, the Oak Brook Polo Grounds provides a unique site
for fund-raisers, corporate picnics, group outings,
birthday parties, weddings and other events. The polo
grounds are located within the 270-acre International
Sports Core, which also houses the Oak Brook Bath &
Tennis Club and the Oak Brook Golf Club.
Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for senior citizens; children age 12 and under and parking are free. The entrance to the Oak Brook Polo Grounds is at Oak Brook Road (31st Street) and Polo Drive, one-half mile west of York Road in the village of Oak Brook, Illinois.
